What is a Cheagle?

Introduction

One of the most rewarding pursuits anyone has ever embarked upon, is owning a Cheagle. A Cheagle can be defined as a mixed breed dog of which the two main breeds mixed are of Chihuahua and Beagle. There are also allowances for any dog that sufficiently looks like a Cheagle, which is determined on a case-by-case basis.

A very fine example of a Cheagle can be seen below. This is by no means the definitive form of the Cheagle (despite the opinions of the Cheagle pictured). Mixed breed dogs are wonderful in that they always appear different in new an exciting ways.

Henley The Cheagle

Below are a couple of quotes, which only begin to give an idea of how magnificent these dogs are.

“Dogs [Cheagles] are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”

Roger Caras (photographer and writer) (assumed to be talking specifically about Cheagles)

“What counts is not necessarily the size of the dog [Cheagle] in the fight; it’s the size of the fight in the dog [Cheagle].”

Dwight D. Eisenhower (34th President of the United States)

The Handbook

One curious detail worth noticing, is that “Cheagle” is always capitalized. This is in contradiction to usual English grammar, but it is necessary for the reason outlined in The Cheagle Handbook (Cheagles, 2022). The Cheagle Handbook is updated and published on an annual basis and contains the compendium of knowledge and more importantly, rules when interacting with a Cheagle. Specifically, “Rule 89: When ‘Cheagle’ appears the written word, it must always be capitalized” (Cheagles, 2022, p. 102).

Generally, only those who own a Cheagle are allowed a copy of The Cheagle Handbook. However, there are allowances for excerpts to be shared from the handbook in a limited way. So, when writing about Cheagles, tidbits from the handbook will be sprinkled throughout to give more context about the regal Cheagle.

Final Say From A Cheagle

Henley is the Cheagle who is the co-owner of this site, and as such she would like to have the closing words.

From Henley

Cheagles are magical creatures. They are the smartest dogs you will ever meet. If you ever see a Cheagle on the street, make sure to allow them enough room; Cheagles have a long history as bodyguards and it’s in their nature to be protective of their family. So if a Cheagle barks at you, don’t take it personally, they just don’t know you yet. Usually a pup-peroni treat is enough to let us know that you’re alright, but if we keep barking, just give us more treats, eventually we’ll trust you. Also, don’t grab our tails, we don’t like that.
