Although neither of their components breeds are bred for northern climates, part of Cheagles worldwide presence is their tenacity in any situation.

Cheagles love to spend time in their backs. Being on their back provides Cheagles with many benefits as well.

• Being on their back funnels blood to their brain for better thinking.
• Being upside down provides Cheagles a different way of looking at the world, allowing creativity to flourish.
• Being upside down simultaneously can scratch their back as well as allow access to belly rubs.
• No one expects to be ambushed by an upside down Cheagle, thus providing the element of surprise.

Something very important to know about Cheagles is that they are just as likely to want to play with your hands as they are a toy. They inherit this from their Chihuahua heritage. As fearsome as they look, they can be quite gentle. In this photo Henley has clearly opted to munch on fingers rather than her lamb toy, but she is applying a light touch as she knows it’s play and doesn’t want to hurt me. Sometimes entire play sessions will be dedicated to her trying to catch my hands before I can grab her paws, side, or tail; inevitably she wins.

Probably the most important thing to keep in mind is that your Cheagle should love you. If they love you they may express that love by wanting to play directly with you, instead of through a proxy like a toy. Fear not if this is what the Cheagle wants, it will certainly toughen your hands and strengthen your bond with your Cheagle.

I have found that in general a Cheagle prefers a place that is snug. So make sure to buy beds and spaces appropriate to their size.

Cheagles fondness for small spaces explains why Cheagles are known for exploration and travel. They would often situate themselves aboard ships or caravans in small nooks and thereby whisked unexpectedly away to faraway lands. Although that is not the only reason Cheagles travel, they are adventurers at heart. Their first adventures usually being unintended often awoke wanderlust within a Cheagle.

I don’t know if this candle perfectly captures the opposite of Cheagle farts, but it’s definitely better than the alternative.

As everyone who has read The Cheagle Handbook knows: rule 77 covers the requirements of a Cheagle’s sleeping arrangements. In short rule 77 generally stipulates that Cheagles must have as good or better sleeping arrangements than their owner’s. Also, Cheagles tend to prefer sleeping naked (no collar).

Finding what your Cheagle loves to do can be a trial and error process. Providing them with lots of experiences is key to finding their happy activity; for example, chewing boxes as seen here.

Cheagles have excellent noses which comes from their beagle heritage. They are quite keen to use their noses for scrounging and sometimes happen upon a jackpot. Today, Henley found a feast that was thrown out near the small wetland. She made away with as much as she could before I could realize that chicken was hidden among the veggies.
